The CFE Fund is seeking a talented and experienced Associate to support the Bank On program. The ideal candidate will have project management experience and be able to work independently. Candidates must be exceedingly well-organized, flexible and enjoy the challenges of supporting a small, entrepreneurial organization.


  • Salary Range$57,700-$75,600, based on qualifications, worksite location, and team parity.

    About the Company

    The Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund supports municipal efforts to improve the financial stability of households by leveraging opportunities unique to local government.

    By translating cutting edge experience with large scale programs, research, and policy in cities of all sizes, the CFE Fund assists mayors and other local leaders to identify, develop, fund, implement, and research pilots and programs that help families build assets and make the most of their financial resources.

    Financial empowerment spans four key disciplines:
    • Professional financial counseling and education
    • Access to safe and affordable mainstream banking products and services
    • Short- and long-term asset building
    • Consumer protection in the financial services marketplace

    Key Responsibilities

    The Associate will support program management, operations, and grantmaking for Bank On initiatives, primarily focused on Bank On’s coalitions.

    Manage Bank On grantees and grant-related administrative work:
    - Drive the selection process to identify grantees including drafting solicitations, soliciting responses, developing evaluation criteria, and leading evaluation processes.
    - Serve as point of contact for grantees and communicate in a timely and professional manner.
    - Assign, track, and provide initial review of program reports from grantees.
    - Participate in regular calls with grantees to provide feedback, introduce new resources, identify areas for additional support, draft technical assistance resources, and troubleshoot issues.
    - Contribute to funding requests and reports as needed.
    - Process payment requests.

    Coordinate and support learning communities:
    - Produce learning community events, trainings, webinars, and materials; including developing event agendas and materials, organizing logistics, prepping speakers, and leading on-site execution for in-person events.

    Support site visits, conferences, and convenings with grantees:
    - Coordinate and support multi-partner meetings, panel discussions, workshops, etc. with a range of stakeholders, including CFE Fund staff, local program staff, municipal leaders, financial institutions, funders, and other local stakeholders.
    - Provide on-the-ground implementation support and troubleshooting.

    Support technical assistance development and delivery to new and existing Bank On coalitions:
    - Support coalitions in understanding, customizing, and utilizing local data.
    - Work with the CFE Fund communications team to collect, develop, and disseminate resources relevant to local partners’ needs.

    Provide other program support to the Bank On team and Bank On programmatic operations as necessary.

    Qualifications


    - At least two years of relevant program support experience; preference is for candidates with experience in the nonprofit or public sectors.
    - A bachelor’s degree, or at least six years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
    - Ability to work independently, take initiative, and move projects forward.
    - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    - Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including government partners, community-based organizations, financial institutions, funders, and internal staff.
    - Experience with event coordination, including both planning and day-of logistics of live and virtual conferences, trainings, or other learning community events.
    - Strong project management experience and time management skills, with ability to juggle multiple priorities, keep team on track with deliverables, manage multiple relationships, and meet deadlines.
    - Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    - Proficient in standard office technology including Windows, Zoom, MS Office and databases

    - New York City-based staff can work in person from our NYC headquarters or may elect a hybrid office/remote work schedule with at least 2 days/week in the office.
    - Remote employees must secure their own work environments and travel approximately monthly at the CFE Fund’s expense to NYC to meet with teammates.
